Here’s What I’m Recommitting to for 2022

Yes, I’m going to write for 25 minutes a day — but with a twist.

Ready, set… set the timer, and begin.

A few months ago, I started to write on Medium. I felt unsure and insecure and intimidated by the blank page, and I won’t say that’s all changed now, but through it all, I kept showing up.

This is it really: showing up. Following through. Practicing something because that’s your Practice, stumbling through it and learning and improving and doing that again because that’s part of the process.

There is no one ‘right’ way, and there is no such thing as ‘enough.’

You could always do it different, say it better, and thank goodness for that. The perfectionist in me is desperate for it all to be perfect now, but then what? It’s the quest for perfection — or the quest for wholeness, which drives us. It’s all a quest, a journeyjourney. Okay. I could ramble on about this, but here is the point:

I’m doing this again.

I’m going to write for 25 minutes a day and post it. But this time, I’m going to give myself even more of a focus and structure around it. My mind is an overthinker and I’m tired of half-writing and not posting, or writing about my fear of writing (and not finishing those posts either)… anyway.

Anyway. I’m doing this, and this is how I’m going to do it in a way that works best for me.

I’m creating another framework, which is centered around these five topics:

  1. Showing up. What am I showing up for today? How do I want to show up?
  2. Practice. What is the Practice? How am I practicing, what does this look like in action?
  3. Simplifying. What are my priorities? If I could do three things today, what would it be? What would this look like if it were simple?
  4. Overcoming. What am I struggling to overcome? How can I support myself in this?
  5. Celebrating. What am I celebrating? Celebrate it, sister!

It won’t be perfect. It won’t be finished (though hopefully it will be finished ‘enough.’

But with all the life busyness and dododoings around, regardless of whether my writing is read or ‘liked’ or lauded as brilliant prose and the voice of the century, taking twenty-five minutes to reflect on these five topics is something that I want to take on in my life.

Also: I’m going to go ahead and modify the goal from an everyday action to 4 posts a week. That feels manageable.

Cheers, friends. You’re invited to join me on this journey.

(I mean, everything is all journeyjourneyjourney…)

Enjoy 🤸‍♀️
